Allegiant Air A320 economy class flight review JAX-CVG G4 1381

This flight is part of my 3 part series reviewing Allegiant, Frontier, and Spirit Airlines. To be fair I only purchased a fare and zero extras on all flights. Seat assignments were done by the system at check in.

Since I was on a very short trip my personal item (free) held everything I needed. I only took what was offered free of charge. No on board purchases.

Elite status: none

Aircraft type:

A320

JAX-CVG

July 16, 2021

Distance: 613 miles

Seat: 27C

Padding:

Padding is thin and seats are slim design. Definitely on the hard side.

Recline:

Seats have no recline.

Pitch:

Pitch is tight at on 26 inches of living space from seat back to the seat in front. Width is 17 inches between arm rests.

In only had 2 inches from my knee to the seat ahead of me.

The tray table was tiny. Not good for getting work done.

Actual duration: 2h 33m

Prices at time of booking:

Payment method reasoning: I don’t chase airline status. Being a cheap fare cash was my best available option.

Boarding:

We were delayed nearly an hour due to inbound aircraft being late. This was due to weather in Cincinnati area.

Once boarding began we boarded by zone. Starting with priority (paid) and Allegiant credit card holders. Then active military and families with small children.

After they called exit rows. Then zone numbers were called starting with zone 2. I was in zone 7. I was one of the last few on board.

Crew was mostly absent during boarding. The flight was mostly full.

Service:

Crew did little to help during boarding. That said people had no issues stowing baggage and getting to their seats.

After the safety briefing we pushed back and were airborne quickly. Around 20 minutes after takeoff food and drink for purchase was offered from a cart. Only credit cards are accepted for payment for in flight purchases.

IFE and power:

No IFE nor power offered on board.

WiFi:

WiFi was not on this aircraft.

Food:

All food on board is for purchase.

No menus available on board.

Food options included sour gummy worms, M&Ms, cheezits, and an assortment of chips.

Drinks:

All drinks on board are for purchase.

No menus available on board.

Options included sodas, juices, and water. Alcohol was also available.

Best seats:

Bulkhead and exit rows have more room and come with an extra fee. Otherwise all other seats are the same. Try for anything not a middle seat.

Pros:

The flight price alone is cheaper. It is also the only nonstop option between JAX and CVG. Crew was friendly.

Cons:

Hard seats and tight pitch will be uncomfortable for tall travelers. All food and drinks on board are for purchase —plan ahead. Limited schedule with little recourse if things go wrong.

Would I fly again?

Yes. If the routing was convenient and the price was significantly less than other full service airlines.
