American Airlines E175 economy class flight review ATL-LGA AA 4439

Elite status: none

Aircraft type:

E175

Seat: 15A (window)

Flight was not full at all. I ended up with an empty seat next to me!

The living space was 28 inches from seat back to seat in front. A generous 18 inches between arm rests and 4 inches of recline. A very good economy class seat.

Padding:

Seat was well padded and quite comfortable. This should be the standard for all short haul aircraft. Definitely the best I have flown.

Recline:

Generous 4 inch recline for a standard economy seat. Also should be a standard!

Pitch:

Seats were a little closer together than some. Worth it for better padding and no middle seats. A good compromise.

Payment method reasoning: I don’t chase airline status. This basic economy ticket was great for my needs with no chance of a middle seat.

Boarding:

Flight was half empty and boarding was very fast. Flight attendants were quick to close the bins and get us on our way. Some economy passengers were shifted forward to load balance the aircraft.

Service:

Onboard service was good and prompt. Since the flight was only half full giving bad service would have been a challenge for the the crew. Everything was fast and efficient!

Service was completed 40 minutes after takeoff.

IFE and power:

No in seat power was available. No screens installed for in flight entertainment.

WiFi:

WiFi was not available on this flight. The aircraft was not equipped with it.

Food:

Only free snacks were offered on the flight in economy. No menus onboard. Snack options were pretzels or Biscoff cookies.

I had the pretzels.

Drinks:

Complimentary drinks included Coke products, coffee, tea, juices, and water.

Alcoholic beverages were available for purchase. Options included beer, wine, and liquor.

I had a water.

Best seats:

All seats are acceptable in this 2-2 configuration aircraft except the row in front of the exits which does not recline. I’ve always been given a window seat in basic economy on many flights on this route.

Pros:

Well padded seats, good recline, and a small aircraft with no middle seats make for an ideal short haul flight.

Cons:

No power offered and no inflight entertainment are only minor inconveniences. No WiFi on board. Slightly smaller living space is not ideal but a fair compromise for the other advantages of the aircraft.

Would I fly again?

Yes! This aircraft if is my favorite for the route between Atlanta and New York which is a route I fly frequently.
